my van is fitted with an RM 122 two way fridge,when i bought the van 4 weeks ago fridge ,cooker and water was all disconnected.Ive now got it all sorted,even put a new thermo coupling on fridge.The pilot light comes on straight away but the fridge dont get cold,its hot at the bottom and the flu is hot but in the middle its cold,had it running for 3 hrs and only went very slightly cold.

Have you tried running it on electric?

Yep does work on 12 volt.

Has it ever worked on gas or is this the first attempt?

I can't really suggest more than what's already been covered in that thread. I could email you the same PDF diagnostics manual and an RM122 manual if you want?

In case that doesn't work out! I'm going to finally pull it together and test my fridge on gas..

12v and 240v work fine from last years testing, my fear of naked flames inside cupboards (seriously it still seems nuts, that thing looks very Stone Age!) is starting to subside - what approach do you guys take to gas bench testing? Do I need any electricity to power the igniter? Can I just use the westy feed pipe to connect to the fridge gas pipe or do I need to go shopping? Finally - dont suppose anyone knows of a decent gas parts supplier around sussex?

UPDATE had fridge running on 12 volt for about 4 hours and things warmed up that didnt on gas and fridge worked,turned it all off and went pub came back and tried it on gas only and it works.I do have same same problem as you smcknighty a naked flame but its been on for 3 hrs and firebrigade still aint been called, but they are on standby

Blimey.You left your engine running that long,just to test the fridges 12v system.(It should only work on 12v with engine running)

yeah i know the 12 volt should only work when van is running,but fridge aint been used for 6 years so that is reason i left it running.i tried it on gas only but wouldnt work,so give it a good run on 12 volt and problem solved.

Shame - sounds like im stuck with my fridge and its mystery hole in the front (i suspect a mouse attack in its prior life) rather than running it on the engine you can get it to work on 12v with a battery and a battery charger. Is this a good idea - dunno but it fulfils the voltage requirement - both my 12v and 240v tests were out of van.

I really don't like the idea of the gas but am coming round to the idea that food won't last long in France unless we are hooked up or driving 24 by 7..

I really want to test it out of van though. Looks like I'm back to trying to get fittings to test it.

i find they run better when engine is running,i tried mine with just battery and it was crap,have you got the metal plate attached to floor of van below pilot light...

Haven't seen a plate - would make sense though.

I got over my gas fear when I looked and saw how low tech the thing is. I have a good clicking sound coming from the igniter but the cable is mouse chewed and the end of it refuses to stay in position for more than a second.

It's £46!!! Bearing in mind most of the wires on the fridge have been taste sampled by mice and there's a chunk out of the front I'm questioning if its worth fixing this one...

I can prob bodge this cable into place for now - anyone got ideas for more realistically priced spares? Is this lead not just a piece of copper??
