Hi folks
Just got my devon through its MOT, and was planning a weekend away, opened the top to get a bit of air and the rear and middle hinges have parted company with the roof!
pop top roof and hinges are fine.
Anyone else suffered this and know who can help?

I had to take mineoff on the hinge side to do some gutter repairs. Fairly easy to put back on so long as you dont mess about with the gas strutts.
You should be able to revivet the hinges to the pop top. Just need to carefully drill out the old rivetts and use a slightly larger rivet.
thanks for that!

I already have disconnected the gas struts to close the roof though! and failed to mention that the area of roof that the hinges were attached to are rotten
However i thought that the whole pop top and tent had to come off to replace the hinges, and never realised that i could take the hinges off the pop top, re fix them to the roof and then put the pop top back on
Can i move the hinges along to a solid section of roof to avoid welding and removing the interior?

Why not pop rivet a plate over the rotten bit, then fit the hinges as original

That sounds like the job
Even a muppet like me could probably do that, and i don't suppose it has to look pretty either because you can't see it really, only when the tops up.
Ta very muchly! i shall now google for pop riveting how-to's.

if you go down the riveting route, make sure you put lotsof wax oyl down there to protect it all!!
