Hi All

I have a G reg T25 1.6d

Its just failed it's MOT on various items but when looking into the below and taking the rear bumper off (big plastic skirt style) i came across this rot See image below):
O/s Front & Rear wheel arches having sharp edges - ideally these need replacing however a quick sand and some filler will get it through.





The questions is can this piece of bodywork be purchased as an aftermarket panel? If not where am i likely to get one or can it be made?

The old original bumper which is under the other is rotten does anybody have one or know where i might get hold of one?





Any advice greatly appreciated.

the lower corners are about £15, bumper aboiut 55 ,there is a kit which has the ends etc,
put up some picks of the rest of it as its one rusty looking van... sorry
the problem is finding some decent metal to fit them to as it will be all rotten behin d. but good luck with it

Heres a list of what it failed on and some more pics of it. I think it might be time for it to go as with a 3 week old baby and no time to work on her i might not have a choice. Nor sure what money it would fetch as an MOT failure? or do i pay the garage to put it through (although don't really want to be paying out too much - dilemma...). Mechanically its spot on, regularly serviced and been in the family from new. Lifetime warranty stainless exhaust, new starter, alternator, battery and various other bits fitted in last few years - its just the rust letting it down.

Any thoughts anyone?

Failed on:

O/S Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid

O/S Front (wheelarch) Body has a sharp edge caused by corrosion

O/S Rear (wheelarch) Body has a sharp edge caused by corrosion

O/S rear (sill) Suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded

O/S rear (sill/valence) Suspensions component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded

Off side rear brake binding

Parking brake lever has no reserve travel

Front brakes imbalanced

Can put a bit of gaffer tape over the sharp edges on the arches. They don't even bother me with an advisory when I do this.

It won't help with the suspension mounts though.

cut and run would be an idea, there is a lot of serious work needed and not just the visible bits,whats behind will be shot as well, as said the filler cap area, tape it up and skim it with pod and same other sharp bits, dont waste time with the lower rear corners, as the floor under/behind will be shot and any temp welding will have to be removed to do correctly. for the sake of a test pop rivit a plate over it and fill it, it wont look pretty n or does it have to , then do fit a set of bumper ends, this covers most of it and gets rid of sharp edges, brakie type stuff is simples, the suspension mount side is maybe not but would need decent picky

Ill take it for a tenner . Sorry that was cheap , as mm says bang it on the bay. Just be honest when advertising it and you will probably get a better response than trying to cover things up and being vague. All the best with it and hope she gets a new lease of life soon .

Probably worth more as a breaker rather than an mot fail.
front headlights/grill, good engine, good box, stainless exhaust etc etc best part of £1k there providing its all good.

yep ,bay it wioth a reserve, end of hassle ,sort with new ankle grabber and start again later
