Poor starting

I am out in the middle of nowhere at start of the fishing season, that's the good news. Bad news is, i have a fuel leak from somwhere at the top of the fuel tank. We stopped to get some fuel and could not but notice the fuel slick under the old girl. Only lost a couple of litres but it brought up a question in me daft head. Could this be also a cause of me having starting issues, sucking in air or fuel run back? Hopefully by time i am back home tomorrow, you guys might shed some light and pearls of wisdom on it. Summer is here:)

Defiantly if you have a fuel leak (Diesel?) air would be in the system and that would cause bad starting, do you have a non return valve fitted?

Ah made it back home no worries there. But kit to answer your question with a question. Not sure how to find out or where would it be located, I do know my diesel return system goes back to tank not to fuel filter, if that helps?

Okay well tank off, no problems with that, did find one of the expansion tank tubes with a fair old hole in it, so replaced the lot. Started straight away no bleeding the system. Am a happy man
One word of advice folks, when the book says fill the tank only to the first click of the nozzle, DO IT, do not try to fill to the brim, not worth the hassle, believe me!
