Hydraulic Tappets?

Having come to terms with a bit of a tappety motor, I found a Volkspares sticker on the rocker cover saying manual tappets and the adjustment. I assumed that this 1.9DG had hydraulic tappets, a VW sticker on the airbox suggests they are hydraulic. After going through all past receipts I have found out that Volkspares put in a recon engine but one with manual tappets, is this normal or did they sling a duff motor in it!! Are all DG's supposed to be hydraulic?
Off to dig around in me shed to find some feeler gauges

Just spoken to volkspares, apparently they used to retro fit manual tappets. The current gap is massive,I guess nobody has checked them for a while, hopefully quiet it down + a few more horses !

Well they wouldn't check them with the original sticker still on.
You could put hydraulic lifters back in if they didn't change the camshaft to run on the solid lifters.

That's exactly why I didn't to start with!
It's only because I saw a sticker half hanging off the the rocker cover, lucky I spotted it.
Quick blast round the block, engine much quieter, feels like a bit more oomph but can't run it much as the cork gaskets are refusing to work, more ordered
