Battery & starting problems

Helloooooo

I've been having some slight problems with my 1980 t25. I've always had some problems with the battery, but recently learnt how to fix most of it, it was running fine for the past month but then it's started again.

Basically the van will start fine, but sometimes if I stop the engine briefly and start it again then it will barely even tick over. I have to get a jump start, then it will run fine again. It's as if the battery becomes completely drained by starting it just once, then if I drive it around for just 5 minutes it's fine.

This might be normal, I think maybe it's my alternator not charging it up, but it seems strange to me.

Thanks

We popped into a local garage and he tested battery and alternator - for us it was both, so might be worth a visit - he did it for free for us.

Take Volt-Ohm meter and choose 20V DC, then place probes on battery contacts. When engine is off, it should be around 12.7, then switch on engine (voltage should drop down) and than, when alternator starts to work, it should be over 13.7-14 V.

The only place that you will find ac is in the alternator - you mean dc.
