Westy RM184 igniter

Advice needed please.
I have a 87 westy with a RM184 egi fridge, problem is on our last camping trip on our return home I forgot to switch off my fridge which was running on gas.
An hour into our return journey my wife turned the gas off at the tap under the sink but not at the gas switch on the control panel.
Now the igniter (RV681)is not working, no clicking sound nor the red light flashing,
I have 12v into the igniter from the switch, also have high voltage wire dissconnected to test igniter.
Couple of questions;
Who's falt was it? mine for driving off with the fridge still on gas or my wifes for not turning the switch off?
More importantly does this sound like the igniter control is defunct? if so where is the best place to source one?
could I use another model igniter?
E D I T... found one on ebay for £65.00 posted is that the going price? just sold a fridge for £50 (not westy)
So many questions many thanks in advance.
Mike.

OK so when you turned the gas off the fridge would have sensed this and the igniter would have started flashing and continued to flash as there was no gas supply. I guess if it was flashing away long enough it could have damaged the igniter ?

Have you checked leisure battery is fully charged as it could have run it flat and now not enough current to supply the igniter ?
Cheers,
Dave

To answer the other question, these fridges work fine on gas when you are driving along. I do this with mine often as I fire it up to cool it down before we set off and it is easier to leave it on gas than swap to 12V.

Two things to check.
1) the mechanical push button switches that change the supply are working....typically the mechanism dries out sticks, not knowing which supply is selected. Give it a good spray with WD40 and work it free.
2) check that the old fashioned bullet fuse holder on the drivers door pillar has clean fuses and the spring terminals are tensioned.

Steve at Gasure had a cheaper auto spark alternative ..... about £36 last time he had them in....give him a bell.

Straight fit all connections like for like, literally took 30mins pulling the fridge out 6" and fitting unit.
Not got the bill yet but they quoted me forty odd plus postage.

Sorry it does read like that but no paid by card, for some reason they didn't include invoice with the package, expect it will be coming through the post.
