Bump.
I would also welcome a friendly point if I get stuck in the Corby or surrounding area. Also has anyone experience of a sensible MOT station in this area.
I used Simon at Campershack for LPG conversion and initial set up and good check over when I got my van and will always as the man is a god but going through it now top to bottom, front to back as MOT out so may need a quick local fix if and when I get stuck.
Engine fine thanks to Simon now it on ramps starting with main coolant pipes perished and I think every bush and gaiter perished then the welding - least the weather is in better mood than my wife with a truck on blocks outside the front door.
Here starts an epic journey. Biggest thing I ever build or repaired on this scale before is a motorbike. Least I know all the nuts and bolts will come undone with ease!!!

Hi Ian
I can help you with a sensible MOT station - try Gareth Davies at Clopton nr Oundle- he is fair without being too strict. Weldon MOT station is by rumour a good place to send a car to if you see what I mean but I haven't used them. Still no joy re experienced specialised T25 mechanic.

Cheers for that always good to know and very close as I am in Great Oakley so only up the road.
Like I said Simon at Campershack is a true god but that is north of Grantham so about fifty miles from me a little less for you.
Shame we can't just ID a good un closer for the emergency or little jobs eh

I have spoken with a mechanic called Mickey he trades as Mickeys mechanics or somat like that. He did a turbo on me Seat very good value he also said he would fit parts if I get em as I felt I could get the turbo cheaper.
He seams a really nice guy with a quite big unit he also told me that the local VW clubs use him but I don't have any experience so maybe this post will prompt a few to give recommendation or perhaps not. On face of it he does appear good but I can't recommend as never used him on Vw
