Hi all,

Please could you help me with a problem. I have CT engine twin weber ict carbs electrnic ignition ( box on l/h side of bay, with heat sink) and stabaliser removed. Originaly a hose came from the r/h carb and then split to the two connections on the vac. on the dissy. I have had the bus at work to set up timing etc, but am concernd that the advance/retard comed from the same tube. Also to put my mind at rest (and get rid of what I think is pinking) could someone confirm the timing, at the mo its BTDC. any advice welcome

Damion.

No the two vacuums shouldn't be connected together. You only need to connect the outer advance vacuum, the inner retard vacuum only works well with the idling circuit in the original carburettor. Set the timing to 7.5 deg BTDC @ 850 RPM with the vac hose disconnected then check the maximum advance is no more than 28 deg over 3600 rpm
Note some of the Webers have different vacuum's between the left and right carbs you can usually tell you have connected it to the wrong one as the timing immediately advances.
Also remove the rotor arm and lubricate the felt pad on the top of the shaft that probably hasn't been done in a while.

thanks, whats the best way to deal with retard port, blank it or leave it. also does that mean its advanced all the time, im thinking of the pinking? i need to borrow another strobe, the one i`m using is red and doesnt show the mark very well, just a darker patch about half inch wide. thanks again for you help.
