Main beam warning light dead

Hi all
I'm in need of a bit of guidance. My 1987 1.9 petrol T25 (was anAutohomes Komet until I updated the interior) has failed it DOE (Irish MOT) on a few bulbs and a dodgy tow hitch, all of which are now sorted. However, the blue high beam warning light on the dash is not working (yup failed it on that). I have had the dash off removed old buld tested and there is no power going to the unit (for the blue bulb) all other LEDs work fine intact the oil light works all the time constantly flashing. So now I'm stuck, really don't have a clue what to do next. Has any body had and over come this problem. Is there a way of conecting a light to the headlamps to come with them, even a quick fix to get through the visual retest. It looks as thought somebody was in there mucking about, couple of suspect wires and broken screw mounts on the dash unit. Thanks in advance.

There's a diagram in the Haynes that will tell you where the bulb gets it's power from ...and where it's earthed, which is equally important

Thanks Kevtherev don't know why I didn't think to RTFM. Followed your advice but as I said some ham "interfered with" amateur (not me this time) had been in there chopping wires. So as a quick fix for the test I had a blue light connected direct to the headlamp and hey presto it passed the test.
