So my stereo only runs off the live feed so I have the problem of always having to connect and disconnect the stereo loom every time I use the van , I'm going to install a dash tidy so I will not have access via the ash tray to the stereo loom . I have ordered a toggle switch that I will install under the dash.
Just want to check everything I'm going to to will be OK , my idea of how its going to work live feed into switch , then new live wire from switch to the stereo and also earth the switch from the van. is it really this simple or am missing something ? Do I need to add any fuses ect

Links to the part I've brought .http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewit ... 9136542761" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And the diagram theory I'm using

Forget the earth, you just need a simple make/break switch to the live supply to the stereo, before its inline fuse if it has one. When theres no power to the stereo, the earth makes no difference at all as there is no longer a circuit. If you need to switch more items, you could use a relay I suppose but Maplins do switches up to at least 1 amp and more if a toggle switch.

So in fact, its even simpler than your diagram. :D A switch with two terminals is all you need - one from power, the other to the power cable on stereo - in other words you're just interrupting the power cable with a simple switch.

The ground connection on some switches is often used for a light in the switch if it has one.
