Changing engines

Hi

I have a 1986 1.6 turbo diesel, who's engine is getting a little tired - it's done around 15.000 miles and I anticipate that the engine will be needing to be replaced in the not too distant future!

How difficult a job would it be to replace this with an air cooled engine? I won't being doing this myself, just want to know how feasable it is.

I'd like to go air cooled again, and have it lpg'd, but want to keep my bus if possible, rather than buy another.

Cheers

Melvin

Jeez..... Why??? That is a major undertaking...

Why not stick a 1.8/2L golf engine in using all the D bits and LPG that... more power and better running costs... and bloomin easy to do... really a no lose situation..

Thanks

Was worried that might be the case. I just miss having an Aircooled bus, but really love the one I have.

May go with what you've suggested, or start to look for an earlier model that's already air 8) ed

Cheers
