Ok here goes :-

T25 - petrol DG engine - Vega rebuild 2000miles ago (over 2 years ago though)

15/40 oil change 1500 miles ago.

Symtom:-

Just developed. After long runs ie 20 miles moterway at 50mph then at the end of the slip road while waiting at idle the oil light flickers/flashes but goes off if the throttle is blipped. NOTE NO BUZZER. after a few miles of normal road running the symptom goes away.

Any thought or things to try.

im ok with electrics and understand mechanicals but not upto taking engine apart.

Ive read the wiki and some older posts but they all generally contain buzzers. I have had the buzzer go off on a previous engine rebuild (differant block same van) and it was the high pressure oil sender so i know it works.

You need to check if you have 2 pressure sensors or only 1 ...

that situation is exactly where you would get a low oil pressure 'spike' IF you have 2 sensors check one of them hasn't been earthed out. Worth having the oil pressure properly tested and if out of range then I'd still approach the reconditioner and see what they say. You may casually slip into the conversation that you belong to a VERY large T25 forum and we are ALWAYS keen to hear of pi$$-poor service ... do NOT burn your bridges straight away though by naming them on the tinternet !!

Id follow ians advice first.A bit of low oil pressure(if it is) on tick over isnt the end of the world.It is if at higher revs.May be worth checking oil pressure relief valve spring.Ive just bought a van that i sold approx 5 yrs ago the oil light took a while to go out when starting and if ticking over at very very low revs it would flicker,that was a recon by elite.(who i believe are good)Its done approx 18k miles since i had it before,and its exactly the same.adam
