It also begs the question why would you?
The brakes on a porche are designed to stop a light car
T25 brakes are designed to stop 2.5 tonnes of van

Well, Ive seen people fit audi big brakes. Surely a four pot calliper can stop your van a lot better than the standard set up, I have an early van and the brakes are shocking. I want something more.

you would fit 996 brakes to your t3 so you could stop safely , as the standard brakes on a t3 van are hardly up to the job even with a standard engine, and as soon as you uprate the running gear they are not really adequate , the brakes on a 996 are superb as they are 4 piston alloy calipers running vented discs a far cry from the standard solid discs and calipers found on our t3 vans,
the 996 setup can stop a high speed supercar with ease up to speeds of 160mph , in comparism the weight of a standard 996 and a multivan are the same weight , the 996 is definately not a light car , if you fit the later uprights paul everything is available to buy of the shelf at a price , the earlier uprights you will need to fabricate your own using a mixture of porsche , merc parts , but you are limited to wheel offsets due to using the original hub ,

ok
early brakes..they were poor in comparison to the later calipers.
I have never found my brakes wanting, then again I suppose my mature driving skills mean I rarely have to aggressively brake all the time. :D

I did find that the brakes overhaul I gave the van, did improve the overall performance quite noticeably... but renewing and improving most of the components was costly.

Hardly. A quick google suggests a 996 has a kerb weight around 1300kg, and a GVW about 1750kg.

But I'd agree that brakes specced for 1750kg at 150mph are going to be MORE than adequate for 2500kg at 80mph.

Equally, I'd agree with Kev that healthy standard brakes aren't quite as bad as they're often painted - and that's with lobbing a probably overloaded hightop Westy down serious mountain in very high ambients.

yep got some late uprights waiting in the wings, looking at that ultimate engineering Porsche kit, looks good but 2 things im not so keen on.
1) the price! to be fair it looks quality and I know you pay for time and ease of everything being sorted for you.
2) It looks like the wheel bolts attach through the rear of the disc and through the hub? Im sure this is OK? What if you wanna change discs? you have to take it all apart and get new wheel studs?

Wonder what all the german guys do with their big engines?

That could make sense. For £84k, I'd expect the damn thing to made of carbon fibre, so it could easily have lost half a ton... <grin>

Most people wouldn't want the expense of fitting them. The usual upgrade is G60 twin pot calipers and discs from a audi 200 turbo. Ive gone slightly bigger by using Merc ML 303mm vented discs and the G60 calipers, but i have slightly different uprights to the norm..

Good luck fitting them though, would be nice to see you get them on :ok
