Just got a toe bar fitted to my Westy and was wondering if it's possible to use a tow bar mounted bike rack. Thule make one that tilts to allow access to the rear door. Anyone ever tried this out?
Thanks

OH was going to get one of these
http://www.thule.com/en/gb/products/bik ... 502-_-9502 but we saw one and although it's a lovely bit of kit, it's big and not easy to store if we are away with just the van and no awning and want to leave it off the van. Then I saw one of these on eBay
http://www.thule.com/en/gb/products/bik ... -970-_-970 and bought it.
It's much, much smaller, lighter, easy to fit to the towball. The only drawback is that you can't easily lock it to the van so OH is searching a strong cable and padlock or something. But as we don't leave the van (one of us always stays with the van and dogs if we stop for a 'comfort' break, we are not too worried. Easily folds and would store in the loft in the van even when travelling.
Oh, and it was a whole lot cheaper too

Don't have any experience of the tilting carriers but we use one of these

nice and sturdy and like it has already been said it folds up small and takes up very little room when not in use

Bought the cheaper one today. Very good tip, thanks a lot

it's a proper bargain that isn't it? Fits my two bikes nicely and took 2 mins to fit.
