hi guys,
my solex carbs are wore out and im looking to replace them with some webbers that i can just fit and drive without running on a rolling road.
im a bit confused with which webbers suit .i was thinking of getting a pair of 34ict s but im not sure if i get 1. do i get chokes or no chokes
2. will they have vacuum take off points or do i have to change to a 009 dizzy.im not interested in changing to dells or any big performance carbs because im in Ireland and we dont have many places that can set up carbs on a rolling road and the ones we do have need you to take out a mortgage for pay for the privilege.
cheers.
mick.

Why anyone would voluntarily fit an 009 distributor is beyond me

Delorto carbs are the best option in my view.. and you don't need a rolling road the basic settings are good enough.

Gower and lee might help get your solex working ok.

Cheers lads for your replys.
@kev I'm not against dells I just would be afraid to lay out the cash and realise that I can't set them up.
Could You point me in the direction of what carbs to buy and where to get them I'd really appreciate it.

@steve I think I want to dump the solexs for something fresher and easier to work with.
But I would seriously consider making the trip over to you to have the carbs overhauled once and for all and maybe have a bit of holiday at the same time.what part of north Wales are you based?

As far north as north wales goes, right on the border where we can throw stones at the english over the river dee , the standard solex's are actually very good once they work properly, dells are the dogs but take some setting up, you can buy bolt on carbs, new solexs are available from the states, webbers etc all need some knowledge of fitting, setting and balancing twin carbs, i do have a few customers who are using the single webber kit from JK, it is not an ideal solution and takes the vehicle a back step, however for ease of use and setting they work and gives a reasonable performance

Cheers Steve,I think with the price of the boat and fuel it might be cheaper to buy a set of carbs.
I don't like Jk single carb so I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy the webber 34ict's and see how I get on .
If I decide to go back to solexs ill defo drop it to you to sort out and make a holiday of it to justify the expense of the boat.
Thanks.
Mick.
