Fitting a Porsche steering wheel

Hi guys, picked up a nice "Lozenge" style Porsche wheel for my van but when I fitted it there was a gap of approx 1" between the base of the wheel and the steering column shroud... I have heard that spacers/bosses are available and I have also heard that there are large and small splined wheels... Is there a way around this problem as I'd love to give this wheel a go... If anyone can help with an answer to this issue then I'd be most grateful...

which wheel do you have never heard of a lozenge wheel , i have porsche wheels on 2 of my vans and they fitted straight on besides changing the indicator cancelling ring to the one of the standard vw wheel , there are 2 different splines you need the larger one of the two of the later cars ie 944 s2 carrera 2/4 etc , when re fitting you need to clamp the steering column together where the 2 rubber seals and locating pegs are or you will get play in the top of column when the steering wheel is tightened up

On the wheel you have, yo'll need a small spacere on the shaft to stop the shaft sliding down inside the column (it will get all wobbly!)
Then, for the wheel itself, remove the covers off it, and shorten up the collapsablr section by the same amount - get someone who can weld to weld it - an engineer etc.
