or 3D Water Transfer Printing! Anyone used this method to have parts of their van done at all?! Basically, it looks as though you can have almost any part 'dipped' with a coating of your choice.

I've seen it done on 'American Chopper' (bike fuel tank) and 'Wheeler Dealers' (interior trim). Haven't seen any in the flesh, so to speak, but it looked good on the telly.

I'd never heard of it before, but my mate sent me the link as a friend of his had his motorbike wheels dipped for £65 each. Looks pretty good for that finishing touch.

that is amazing,was looking in this months streetrodder and a car had wood water transfers done looked really good,was wondering how it was done,how hard wearing is it though?

Could see a whole dash, or just an instrument pod done with this......

My thoughts as well.
I found out that there's a life limit to vinyl wrapping too, some of the cheaper wraps only last 6 months.
Once the hot sun gets to work on it ...

Certainly a good point! I've e-mailed wicked coatings to see what the life limit is and will follow up once i've had a reply.

For anyone interested, this is the response I got from wicked coatings:

Our finishes are UV resistant and will not fade in time.

Obviously I cannot give you a five year warranty on this, however what I can tell you is that our system is fully OEM approved by a large tier one manufacturer here in the UK. It has passed vigorous testing to meet these standards.

Life expectancy should be as long as you would expect a new cars paintwork to last.

Hi Chris, many thanks for your promopt reply, whilst i fully appreciate your position and the candid manner in which you have replied, i would however ask how long the 'one tier manufacturer 'expects the product to last.

As you will have had many discussions with them and been involved in the testing and approval of same then how long is the agreed life of their paint finish.

no i wouldnt expect a guarantee, but this is woolie speak, bit like the politicians answering without saying anything meaningfull.
the above should pose no problem unless the one tier group are happy with a life span that is not quantified??

I suspect this stuff has a life span.. Where its used determines that.
In some areas of extreme conditions I doubt it will see paint off.
