I have a 1.9 water cooled t25 and i am struggling to find out where the all the wires go in the engine bay . I have a purple and white wire un plugged and a few others . It is running but would like to make sure the spare wires get plugged in to the right areas .

Could anybody point me in the right direction ?

By the way the wires all seem to come from a loom that connects to a box on the left side of the engine bay . Electronic ignition control module maybe ?

Im new to the vw scene so im sorry if it seems like a silly question

Cheers

It would have been nice if you introduced yourself first....

There's a wiring diagram in the haynes

the black box is the "junction box"
The lilac/white wire is from the temp 2 switch to relay number 1 in the box
Temp 2 switch is located on the thermostat housing, at 87 deg C this switch turns the manifold heater, carb de-ice and choke heater off.
The switch has a black wire which is to the ignition.

Please put your engine details and year in your signature to save any guesswork

welcome to the forum
:ok

Hi ,

I have updated my details i hope this helps a little

I do have a haynes manual but the diagram is far too complicated for me to understand .

I am not the best with wiring and like to see a picture or something simple like plug this in here and that plugs in there ect

any chance you have a picture or pencil drawing i could follow ?

No I don't
There is an explanatory diagram telling you what and where it all does in the haynes prior to the actual diagrams
I have explained what your lilac wire does and where it goes
If that was too complicated I would suggest you get to know the layout of your engine bay or leave it to an auto electrician and pay.

The info in your sig helps..could you also put if it's a DF or a DG 1.9
Being a 1985 and in a crossover year do you have two thick rubber pipes to the water pump?

early cooling system then... :|
The Black /Blue wire connects to a two pin connector with two Brown wires, this brown wire goes to the oil pressure switch between cylinders 3 & 4

A green wire also connects to this connector.
the green wire may not be there for your early engine
