Making rock 'n' roll more comfortable

Hi all

Any ideas on how to make the bed more comfortable? The good cushions aren't worn and the bed is in really good condition but for some reason I get chronic back ache every time I sleep in the van. Even with it being 100% level my back (lower) is in pieces.

Am not for foam topper as OH gets really hot and nothing too bulky as need plenty of room in the back plus in the likelihood of needing to access the engine bay en route I don't want to be having to moving lots of things.

We use a double self-infating camping mat, like a thermarest camping mat, but a cheaper non-branded one. Ours was an ebay purchase but Aldi or Lidl sometimes have them too.

We put the mat on the R&R then a put a heavy throw over that (as its a smooth slippy surface) and then a fitted bed sheet to hold it all together.

It seems to help. Mat rolls up when deflated or can be folded in two and left on back cushion, not taking up too much space.

We also have a single thermarest which she uses on her side for weekends or single nights so there is less to sort out.

We use a thick (but cheap Asda special) double duvet which serves two purposes really. As a mattress topper and sheet. Definitely makes it more comfy :)
