Gas safety monitor/alarms

Hi,
I am just completing a camper conversion and I was asked if I was going to fit a gas alarm. Having had a search around I have not found much on here but there do seem to be some carbon monoxide (CO) and butane/propane (LPG) monitors and alarms available over and above the traditional household smoke alarms.
I had a word with our local fire brigade and they suggested a monitor card (which changes colour in the presence of CO) since 'this is a slow build up problem' and a battery smoke alarm so that it can be disabled when the vehicle is not in use.
Just wondering what alarms other people have fitted (CO, LPG, smoke, etc?) and where you found advice about what's recommended.
Looking forward to your helpful feedback.
thanks
