Good vibrations....not

Since going down that bumpy hill near the last trial at Coney, the vans been shaking like a good un.
I noticed it had thrown a couple of wheel weights so changed to the spare which has eased it a bit, but there has always been some vibration so I thought i would look into it a bit deeper.
firstly wheel bearings....How much play is too much, Are these shot? There's no movement left to right only up & down.
Image

I also noticed a wobble on the offside gearbox flange, the otherside doesn't seem to bad.

And looks like the wobbly flange is causing this?

I have always had a drone that you can hear whilst driving coimng from the rear off side. I changed the stub axel and bearng carrier but it made no difference. Should there be any play up & down in the cvj's, i can feel a very minimal amount...

I too am no 'expert' but that looks DANGEROUS

I would take the whole shaft off and replace any worn bits.

I believe you can adjust the gearbox output shaft bearing ??

Wheel certainly shouldn't be that loose - did it pass an MOT like that :D

wheel bearings are fobarred
outer cv or wheel bearing has wear
output flange of gearbox is not leaking so eccentric motion either irrelevant or no oil in box
gearbox diff is not adjustable as far as you are concerned, normal play is on nearside a few mm is perfectly acceptable provided there is no leak from seal, difflock diffs are harder on the offside than non lockers or 2wd so may have play evident there
often worn cv's cause wear to the parts they are bolted too
there should be minimal perciptible verticle play in shafts
imho of course - looking at a video is not the same as being there

Any play in a wheel bearing is too much. Dont forget that the rear wheel bearing housings wear as well

I have a confession to make.
I took the video before I tightened the wheel nuts properly.....but they were tight enough to seat the wheel, I only just realised this so will test it again tmorrow...(I'll get me coat). :run
To be honest it didnt feel that bad, and I was quite shocked to see the movement on the video.
I think I need to drop the oil in the box because the noise coming from it did not sound nice from underneath. it was in fourth gear ticking over without any weight on the wheels, so not really sure what it should sound like.
I have 10 litres of gearbox oil in the cupboard anyway (like you do).
Handbrake was off by the way Jed.
