Hi all.

Can't get the drivers door to unlock. managed to get door card off enough to see in partially. Can't see anything wrong. The locking mechanism push button wont lift up feels like there is something jamming but can't see what. Any ideas?

It doesn't lift up it pushes in if I remember correctly, so you need to lever it towards the door card.

You could try taking the handle off to see if the fork has got itself the wrong side of the mechanism. From what I remember there's just one screw holding the handle at the lock end and the front just hooks into a slot in the door. Once it's off you should be able move the mechanism with a pointy thing.

Lol. How do you get the handle off if you can't open the door.

Don't get what you mean it pushes in and doesn't lift up. When I try to lift the door lock pin on inside, it won't lift up, similarly key won't open door as pin won't lift up.

Reminds me of a torch I came across that gave an incredibly powerful beam - as long as the sun was shining on it. Nearly bought it too!

Oh, and the car door lock defroster that plugged into your ciggy socket - doh!

I should have looked in the Bently first. I remembered it was one screw holding the handle on, but forgot it was on the lock mechanism. In my defence it has been a couple of years since I re-tumbled my locks.



If the fork on the end of the lock tumbler has got the wrong side of the latch mechanism that would stop the door unlocking. Can you see where this locates with the door card off?

I was talking about the latch rather than the lock. If you can push or pull the latch lever towards the door card you should then be able to open the door & remove the handle. Get it now Jeff. The latch on the outside door handle is loose like it's not connected to anything. However the inner door handle is, but still wont open as something is preventing the lock from lifting.
