well after months of work i am now ready to start putting it back together and the fuel neck parts have got me stumped a bit ive managed to put the surround on but i cant seem to get the rubber part to go on the neck properly and fitting the stainless ring the parts came from brickwerks would i be able to use some lubrication if so whats best

I did the same job this morning. It took about 45 minutes including changing the fuel lines to the expansion tanks.

assemblw it all of the van, by that i mean plastic glory ring and stainless backing ring, all those bits, then adjust jubbilee to be a touch bigger than needed, place clip on filler neck, add a touch of vaselkine if you wish to the neck then pop it through from the outside, easy enough to locate it on the neck and make sure you have the rotational orientation correct and use an open ended spannner to fit in the slot that the filler cap fit, (1" af) and use this to turn the hole thing once inserted

What I'd like to know is how you remove the damned thing in the first place. That panel on mine is rotten as hell around the neck and I'd quite like to replace it. I assume I can seal off the hole in the tank with plastic, cable ties and some sheilding (considering welding going on) but the screws around neck look corroded to me.

christ easy , all the ones i do are rotten as helll and then some.
i cut the jubillee off with a disc,carefull of the rubber neck thoiugh often this is shot, if derv no issues if fools then watch for sparks
then get an open ended spanner(or other item) and insert into filler and add a big shifter or equivalent and turn anti clock about 1/2",, trust me they come out

I managed to do it by using some lubrication that made it better to get on.the panel wa rotten when I got the van but they hadn't removed the old panel and just cut a circle in panel and stuck it over the rot hence why I took it off and cut the rot out and done it properly will be posting pictures of it soon

Here you metalmickey this is what was put over the fuel neck surround I managed to pull it off with my hands hence a new panel has been fitted now this was just a piece of sheet metal with a hole in

I have a pic of it fitted somewhere I will have a look.when I bought it they said the fuel surround just needed refitting they did a similar thing on the rear arch where they just welded a lower panel over the rotten one I have also cut that out and done it the correct way I will have to find those photos and post them up

hmm i wonmder if it was the samne shonker that did the mally,as he sikaflexed the rear wings over the old remnants amongs other things.
