after returning home a 50 mile motorway trip in my van with no problems,when i got home the gear select wouldnt go into 1st gear had to wiggle it around to find 1st byt all other 3 gears were fine,i know this is probably a linkage problem ,but before i spend anymore money could this be anything else.

look at the linkage under the lever - turns out my inability to get 2nd was worn plastic guides on the selector.

Easy fix
