Heater ducting

Following my last post about my old heater, I need some help running the ducting... I should mention it's a remato heater mounted behind the grill outside the van.

If I just tap into the existing ducting it appears the heat will just come out by the drivers feet where as I want it to come out of the ducts between the seats - ie: blowing towards where I'll be sitting / sleeping.

Can anyone offer any words of wisdom or advice? Many thanks if you can!

Is this existing duct VW ducting?
If it is then it's not recommended
The heat will filter away to many places.
...and when the van is moving it will pressurise the duct with air from the outside intakes.

Best to use designated duct

Ok - I'm quite happy to just fit some new ducting and a new inlet to the van but my original plan was to try and replicate what would've originally been there (1st autohomes conversion) so I'd be interested to know how that was run?

Anyone have an early autohomes conversion that might be able to shed some light on things?

Ok - I think I've sussed it and hopefully this might help someone later on...

I need to add a splitter in order to splice in the ducting to the original system. Then it's a case of just fixing the factory fitted heater controls on the dash so that I can turn off the heat to the drivers feet and redirect it to the back.

Sounds so simple when I put it like that!
