Generally...
3 wires.
red is live.
black is earth.
yellow is switched live output to turn the heater on.
then, plus some others, sometimes for thermostat that you can control the output of the heater digitally from the timer, depending on what timer you have.
Unless it's one of those weird old mechanical ones that looks like a clock, I have no idea.

Pic of forementioned timer below.....

I was offered two types..
One with one loom and one with two.
I was advised to get the one with two looms just in case.....
many thanks lhd........

I've fitted one of these to my van; still got the wiring detail knocking about somewhere. I installed it in the dashboard, measure & drill carefully though!
If you drop me your email address, I'll send some pics/details.

Your best bet is to download the B2L-D2L installation manual from the internet (i've got a copy if you need it). In that there's a circuit diagram showing how the external timer is connected. The names of the wire colours are a bit obscure but if you use the terminal numbers you should be able to figure it all out.
Don't want to worry you but from the circuit diagrams i think the unit with one loom might have been the one for you. On the bright side you should be able to mod your unit to work.
Hope i'm wrong

PS : I'm not going to be able to answer PM's for a few days......
