Hi - i fitted one of these
12V MINI H/D MAKE & BREAK RELAY DURITE 70 AMPS 0-727-70 put this into one of the online auction sites
They are available cheaper from China!!
This mod only assists if the wire supplying is getting a bit old and the resistance is starting to build up.(Less available current reaching starter) It will not help poor earths, failing old starter motors, bad bush in gearbox Or Failing Cell on battery etc
I fitted the relay using one of the retaining screws on the heat sink - Fortunately the wire reached directly and is easily reversed in the event of relay failure.

Ok - Make sure you check the voltage on the Bosch one - I ended up buying one off said auction site and bought a 24 volt one!!! (It was adverised correctly in the small print BUT wrong in the header. LOL - £10 Wasted
Then had Cold start problems Also

As this relay fix is only to ensure the highest possible voltage to the starter solenoid switch and isn't carrying much current, any GOOD quality 30/40 amp relay will do it. Please avoid cheap Chinese and Eastern European stuff, better to stick with either a good used Bosch (VW) item or something branded new ie: Nagares/Durite/Lucas etc.

I was also going to add...if you are going to modify existing setups, especially vital ones like the starter circuit, just be sure to do it well ie: soldered joints, shrink wrap, mounting the relay in the dry and protected from the heat of the engine.
It is in your best interest that this modification is reliable and doesn't let you down in the middle of nowhere because of a broken poorly crimped wire or melted relay.
