PEEPS,

ANY ONE HAD A GOOD OR BAD EXPERIENCE REMOVING THE METAL PANELS IN THE REAR OF A CREW CAB AND REFITTING WITH GLASS.

WERE DID YOU GET THE SEALS AND GLASS?

A WISE OLD MAN TOLD ME I COULD WALK INTO A vw MAIN DEALER AND GET THE SEALS FROM THE PARTS COUNTER?

AND PERHAPS GET THE GLASS CUT TO FIT FROM A GLAZIER? WHAT STANDARD?

ANY ONE KNOW THE CORRECT DIMENSIONS (LONG SHOT PERHAPS)?

CHEERS ALOT.

The wise old man was right, I bought glass and seals from VW, new seals easier to fit than old hardened ones. Take the penels out by carefully gring the tack welds from inside, prime any bare metal before installing glass. Easy peasy!

It took me about a couple of hours - cutting the tack welds with a thin chisel and a grinder. It did reveal some rust (Hammerite seems to have solved) as the blanking panels look like they were fitted before the shell was painted. Second hand glass and seals went in easily with the help of some nylon string. Well worth doing - the old panels used to make a really annoying noise at certain engine revs and they leaked.
