Hi. I'm new to the forum and would like to know whether anyone knows where I could buy just front coil spring spacers. I can only find sets of fronts & backs
the front end is a bit heavy with a winch!
Also I would like to extend my air intake snorkel. Is there a mod kit or is it just some plastic trunking and a mushroom top?

Why do need to extend the snorkel? How deep are you planing on going?

just fancy bolting on another toy more desperate to get the front lifted.

Q: what's the average/norm for ride height of standard, lighter vehicles like basic 14" 'velles?

I've now got Lloyd's old 16" spring set, fitted the rears but before I tackle the front end, the tape rule says that Atlantis measures about 450mm from centre-to-arch. It doesn't look desperately low but Lloyd reckoned his 16" van sat at more like 480mm even with the extra weight of the Westy top etc.

I appreciate that direct comparisons are a bit iffy, but any sensible ideas? I'm not going down the "lift lift and more lift" route, just don't want it riding like a bloodhound, nose down and 'arris up.

Mine sat at just under 490 with spacers, that's why I was saying to you that they probably had sagged a bit, but by how much I don't know because of the heavy tdi. Factory is around 480mm if I remember correctly

Not a complaint mate, sold as seen, all good! The back end looks good, just wanted an opinion as to what constituted the "correct" height up front. Looks like I'd better swap them too then...

I think they're lower than 480 as standard.

I'm running 2wd front springs with spacers and mines 500mm centre to arch lip. Was 510mm a while ago, but there's loads more weight in there since then.

FWIW My pickup is on stock springs (all old) with 15mm shim in front and 20mm in back and its sits at around 50cm wheel centre to arch. I had calculated at around a 25mm lift so I think v-lux is right there.

Thanks chaps. All that really matters is the gap underneath... the book figure is 200mm as standard where is it measured? I'm guessing the wbx engine bar/tail end of td protection?

FWIW, with minimal junk on the floor and an almost full tank, Atlantis stands at 460mm centre-to-lip, front and rear.

Ground/rut clearance is also balanced at 250mm each end with 215/75/15's on level ground. Not bad really.

If it's sagged, why not just repair the sag? Rather than remedy its effects?

If your going to the effort of putting spacers on you'll have to remove the spring, so, er, why not just er. Hmm put some new springs? Or am I missing something?

Oh, 14" and 16" springs are the same.

My van is empty and standard...arch measurements are 485/495....no idea why it's so perky but it is...lifting is about to commence today in fact!

I didn't think that it had sagged much, from what Al said. Is there a "book" figure for centre-to-lip documented somewhere? Whatever, it does the job and still has more daylight underneath than a new Defender on 235/16's (as advertised) so that'll do for now.

PS How is it that I have had syncro rear springs with either one or two distinct green stripes? I haven't fitted any spacers, just replaced a broken rear one to keep it roadworthy, that's all.
