No that one no. Its shot. Swap it for a good second hand one. Repairs are really only practical on spring seat and then only just. If you had that welded, they'd fail it and rightly so.

I'll lay a bet that if you had it shot blasted there wouldn't be much left.

The reason its deemed a failure is because should it collapse (and every chance it will judging by the extent of the corrosion), the results could be catastrophic not just for you, vehicle and passengers but other drivers and pedestrians. Welding it would not obviate that possibility at all so therefore it would still fail and in fact MOT rules back that up. Theres no way on earth I'd do anything but swap it for a good replacement. Lots on here have swapped the arm out if you need guidance on how to do that.

So what is the rear cross member like adjacent to the pick up forks, and the forks themselves?

I think when it is removed a few shocks await...

Qu. Yes, how can it ever get like that without being noticed in previous years @@

I've just put two arms on myself, having repaired the forks that they pivot on

Setting the toe-in is important, the camber a bit less so and a bit easier being the outer nut & bolt.

Not having time to get straight to a geometry check, I worked out a way of setting it at original install time, at least making sure it's the right side of wrong and matched side to side... I'll find out if its accurate when back from France.

I used (Syncro) +5' (minutes) Quite marginal toe-in.

... so what did you say your forks and rear cross-member were like?
