I need a trustworthy mechanic

My 1985 T25 has a bad oil leak. It's been diagnosed as coming from the push-rod tube seals, apparently they have perished.
I had a guy in Milton Keynes try to fix it last year, but he's made matters worse. He tried to fit replacement seals with telescopic tubes, but they don't seal properly.
Seems to me it needs a complete engine strip, head off and new seals and tubes.
So can anyone recommend a trustworthy mechanic who would be prepared to take on a job like this in the Hertfordshire, Bucks area.
I don't mind travelling to get good service, but the oil leak doesn't make long journeys very practical.

Even a trustworthy mechanic won't be keen to take it on unless you sign something to say you accept the head bolts might snap. You could be left with a bill and no engine. I'd try resealing the telescopic ones first. You could do this yourself - just be methodical.

Do you mean that I should buy new seals and telescopic tubes or try to apply some sort of sealant to the existing seals? If so what sealant would you suggest?

Can't help you there mate, but if you need bodywork done, including shotblasting and spraying you have an excellent coachworks firm based just outside Tring. They sorted my van out about 18 months ago. If you are interested later pm me and I'll give you the details. Good luck.

It's a straightforward job to reseal the telescopic tubes ... try a search here I remember typing it all out at least once. Telescopic tubes are re-usable get a new set of tube seals and make sure everything is scrupulously clean when assembling it all.
