I've read a bit about fitting new shoes and most descriptions mention a tool that makes it easier to fit the springs and pins. Can anybody please tell me the name of this tool or post up a picture of one?

Thanks, Jon.

I made one out of a screwdriver and cut a slot in it to turn the pin in the middle .

Finger on the back, points of a smallish pair of needle-nose pliers into the holes in the front of the washer, push, twist.

I use a pair of these ...

They are also good for undoing the tw@tclips on the cooling system.

since i was taught an age ago I have as said above , a pinky to hold the pin in place, with in my case the lug bits at 3-9 oclock
big old pair of pliers and grab the plate bit, push over pin(as you know its orientation) and turn rht or left a half.
takes 5 seconds.

Thanks everyone for the replies and advice. I think I will tackle it with pliers first and see how I get on.
Thought I'd throw up a picture of the bits I've been buying over the last few months, nearly ready to fit together, just saving for the shocks and possibly a new drum whilst I've gone this far. Will no doubt be asking a few questions about CV joint condition soon but one step at a time! Thanks again all

You may have noticed the encroaching hand of my 2 year old girl and the bottom of the pic, getting involved already Jon.
