Hello

I only recently took ownership of my first T25. We apparently have a solid van but there were a few bits and bobs to fix, not least a leaking side window which had moss growing in the seals and when a hose went on it, leaked. Half the window is actually perspex and so we would have wanted to sort that at some point anyway.

A local garage is doing the repairs and had originally spoken with VW Heritage about replacement glass and were told they'd have to purchase the whole unit. That was two weeks ago and when I phoned to see if we could get the camper back, I was told that they couldn't actually get the part after all. They tell me that they've tried a few options but they might have to get glass made.

I'm now a bit concerned as to why that wasn't an option in the first place? It was going to be expensive to replace the unit but I figured it would at least be watertight. If we just get glass and a new seal, that should be much less expensive but is it possible and will it do the trick?

Would be very grateful for the benefit of the forum wisdom on this one please. Many thanks, P

you can get a bit of laminate cut, but not sure of the top of my head on the thickness,
or get a replacement window , quite a few second hand.,but would need you to post a picky up and give the size and what conversion your van is

Looks like it will be a second hand unit then.

My van is in the garage but I'll try and post something from the original ad later. Maybe somebody will be able to confirm if it's an autohomes kameo or karisma because I can't tell the difference and have documentation which suggests it could be either.

auto homes seem to use an odd large size window!

you could have one cut , pop down to a local glass company with the window or glass size as you will need a toughened piece of glass which from memory is toughened after cutting.

I got a piece of poly carbonate sheet from work and cut it with a jig saw it looks just like glass but just have to be carefull as it scratches much easier

Billy739 - if only I had read your post before trekking from North London to Oswestry to pick up the window from a Westy as you are totally right; the window is just a tad too small - gah! We did, however, pick up a bargain bike rack and enjoyed the wander around Bus Types. Now, our local garage is going to try and work out what he can do but it may be a case of cutting glass after all.

Now, if I'd taken a tape measure, we might not have this conundrum but, happily, the window is in with some extra large seal, I presume.... The hose is going on it tomorrow and if it's water tight, I'll be celebrating!
