I can't remember if the knuckle end of this stainless intermediate pipe needs a semi triangular gasket like the back box or just an olive- if olive does it need paste or suchlike? Thanks.

I would not bother with paste

So if mine is blowing a bit - it is- after 2 years, could this be resolved by tightening or is a new olive indicated? Should it be wet when fitted- missus.

I've always found that those olives are better fitted with a bit of paste ... as our friend say's you shouldn't need it BUT it certainly does help.

Olives are about the only joint that I wouldn't use a smear of paste on.....just don't think it would make any difference. However, if both olive and flange are corroded then I can see how a smear would help.

Definately tighten first, it could be all it needs.

Tightened it, no probs now. Interesting that my ss flared edge nuts were a bit loose as they should grip well having a cerated edge. I use stainless Allen head m8 bolts and stainless nuts with a flange.
