faulty thermostat, blocked rad, blown gead gasket, not enough coolant, faulty guage.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms are drastic over heating, water doesn't seem to be going from chamber behind the cat flap to the upper chamber on the right of the engine bay. But the hoses are hard when engine running, that says to me it is pressurised. I have bought a new Dalek head from brickwerks. Hot air is still getting to the blowers in the cab, so does that mean water is still being pumped through the system? Thus ruling out the water pump. In fact I keep coming back to head gasket, But stop me if you think I'm wrong !

when the coolant/engine is cold fill the tank in the engine bay to the brim and follow this

Why do you say that? Is the main header tank (inside the bay) full? Water should only flow from expansion tank to header tank when there's lower-than-ambient pressure in the header, sucking coolant across. It should never go back, so that expansion tank should be cold (or, at least, only warm through radiant engine bay heat).

Hot air is still getting to the blowers in the cab, so does that mean water is still being pumped through the system? Thus ruling out the water pump.

Yes, but it says nothing about anything else. The pump may be working (which you can see easily, anyway - the belt's spinning the pulley for it) but the 'stat might be jammed closed. The rad might be blocked.

What's the rad doing? What's the temp gauge doing? What's the cooling fan doing?

STOP

The Darlek cap 'seals' the system and allows the hot expanding coolant to pressurise the system AS IT SHOULD

If the hoses DIDN'T get hard there would be a problem, NOT the other way round.

So.....your van is overheating....please explain the symptoms as a simple 'statement' doesn't give us the information we need to give you good advice.

Things like:
What is the gauge doing, how quickly does it move to overheating, are you getting any flashing lights?
Is the radiator fan cutting in and at what point?
Is the radiator hot?
Under what circumstances does it overheat? standing idle/driving at speed etc.
Are you loosing coolant? can you see a leak?

You see..simply saying 'my engine is overheating' what do you think it could be.....isn't enough to go on.

the upper chamber on the right of the engine bay.
may we assume this is a diesel

In another post from yesterday, they say it's a 1.6 non-turbo, yep. But, in that same post, they say the HG's definitely gone - and the head's half way off already... And that thread was started before this one.

Nope I'd 'just' be taking it back to the vendor for a refund or discount.
