Hi to all was fixing a petrol cap that was loose and just as i was putting the parts togethar a screw fell into the petrol tank
any ideas on getting it out ,
will it have any problem being there
any ideas welcome.

I'm sure someone posted something similar a few months back. However, I can't remember the exact answer but I'm sure it was along the lines of it won't cause a problem. (I think) Jon.

I just found that post so all is good.....phew although kev the rev did say if water gets in the screw will rust so hopefully that wont happen.Thanks again for the reply.

Some people chuck a magnet into the fuel tank to collect any rust particles so they don't block up the fuel filter or internal fuel strainer. (that strainer blocking up is a common problem on Sciroccos)

Your screw will do no harm.

just thinking does a magnet still work if its wet..

I think the magnet on a stick idea was a joke because the pipe that goes to the tank is far from straight !

Yes, by the way, magnets do work when wet.

If you take off the long plastic filler pile you can get better access to the hole in tank about 50mm wide. Short stick with magnet / carrot to attract all those love rusty bits, such fun. No fags though!

I meant stick with magnet on string....

How about a couple of old egg trays,some yogurt pots and some sticky back plastic.
