I notice a few comments about thirsty buses. What is considered 'normal'.

Original fuel injected 2.1.....
Around town in the autumn/winter 17 - 19mpg
Around town summer 19 - 22mpg
Economical long distance driving 25 -27mpg
Varied over distance not sparing the rod on occasion 22 - 24mpg.

The last four summer hols around Europe have seen averages from 24.9 to 25.8mpg (I like the mountain regions so some of this has been spent in the Alsace/Alps etc)

And just for comparison, if us 2.1ers went LPG we'd get about 30MPG I believe.

Not quite - we'd get fewer miles per litre (and hence gallon). It's just that the cost per litre is lower, so the cost per mile works out to the equivalent of 30mpg (or whatever).

You have to, of course, balance the costs of fitting and ongoing maintenance and the loss of interior space/spare wheel against that.

Of course you're right. I meant to say "equivalent".

Around 18 mpg on the good stuff so yes, around 30mpg equivalent.

Thanks everyone

Mine seems to be about average despite idling too fast. I'm not convinced about LPG. The tank takes up too much space. I had a friend who ran without a spare because of this and was stuck with a puncture. The inflation kit with a bottle of sealant goo didn't work.
