evening all,
since the daily run-around has been written off, we are having to use the T25 as a daily motor. With this in mind, does anyone know of any good T25 friendly garages/mechanics in the rochdale surrounding areas? We could really do with it not stalling when slowing down at lights etc, and maybe having functioning petrol and temp. gauges!
thanks if you can help,
ps...its a 1.9 petrol autosleeper

Hello mate,

I'm in Bury/Bolton and have used a few garages locally. Your petrol and temp gauge are fairly easy to fix by your self if you look in the WIKI. When you say it stalls at junctions have you had the carb serviced?

Vanwurks are in/near Oldham if that's any good. There is another VW garage near Oldham too iirc but can't recall the name.

Cheers for the replies...
I'll check the wiki for the gauges.
as far as the carb....no..not serviced since last summer. The van has been stood over winter as we used the car in the bad weather. But now that's gone! A friend had a look the other day after it ran out of petrol and wouldn't restart. Since then it keeps stalling.
I might call vanwerks and see if they know a knowledgeable mechanic.

You say it only started after running out of fuel, has it sucked a load of crap in to the fuel filters? There are two, one underneath and a tiny one in the fuel inlet in the carb. My 1.9 DG had a similar fault and this solved it. Worth a try or if you are not confident I am only in Oldham so pop over and I'll have a look.

Maddogs........that's really good of you.......I might have to take you up on the offer! We've noticed some bits of something in the bottom filter.....is it just a case of removing the filters and cleaning them out?

Replace it. Costs a few quid.

The carb cone filter can be washed in petrol or carefully blown out with an airline, the inline one near the tank is disposable.

The one underneath is worth changing for a new one but the one in the carb comes out and you can clean it. It is tiny and difficult to find if you don't know where to find it. Take the fuel pipe of the carb and screw a small self tapper finger tight into the metal pipe on the carb then pull it out. Clean it and refit it, easy. Or pop over and I'll show you.

Well..after leaving the van stood for a week, it now doesn't cut out....just sounds rough as hell! Any ideas?
