Cooling Pipe Replacement

Hello all.

Could any one tell me where i could purchase a complete set of cooling pipes for my 88 caravelle? 1.6TD JX
I've got a rebuilt engine coming soon and want to replace the pipes as some look a bit shoddy.

I know brickwerks do the stainless steel front to back pipes but finances dictate at the moment so cant afford those at the moment.

Which pipes are usually known to 'go''?

The engine bay pipework seems to be in pretty good condition, the pipes i'm most concerned about are the rubber feed and return pipes to and from the rad, they feel a bit ropey.

Would be fair to say the existing plastic front to back pipes are pretty much bullet proof and i should just go about replacing the rubber stuff?

Thanks,

Rob.

Rob, uncle VW replaced the mild steel pipes with plastic but as 2 fingers in the air to us 'enthusiasts' he very kindly fitted mild steel inserts into each end which rust and expand, splitting the plastic So the long pipes are still problematic ... hence the marvellous Brickwerk's Rostfrei variety

Thanks Ian, i'm gonna have to do some saving then by the looks of it.

Or maybe! Is it not possible to replace the plastic pipes with rubber?

Some say you can, personally I'm about to replace the whole lot on my van with stainless ... everything from front to back.

I'd like to take the same route but cant afford to just yet, i need to pay the engine rebuild quite soon, i'm looking forward to actually getting out in the van, on with the interior at the mo.

I don't suppose you know the thinking behind the solid front to back pipes? Do other rear engined vehicles use the same set up?

Cheers.
