1Z Timing

So finally got round to changing the the timing belt and bottom pulley. Now it all seems to run straight and true ! Yay. Moved the pump along the belt a notch, to get it back to the middle of the slot.
Plugged my Ebay OBD2 lead and VCDS lits, but cannot get the Timing graph to work ? Been playing by trial and error, but still doesn't seem quite right.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich, a bit of information for you re. our phone conversation. I recommend you re-do your physical engine timing 'properly', that is, with the crank known to be at TDC, with the pump and camshaft locked correctly, and the camshaft sprocket free on its taper. To determine crank TDC, personally I would recommend you make a timing mark suitable for the T3 bellhousing. A discussion of how to do this is here and here. It may also be possible to determine TDC using a DTI on the piston, if the measurements can be done sufficiently accurately.

Once done, use vagcom to set the pump timing. The graphic 'TDI-Timing' checker is nice but is only available in the licenced version, however you can do it with the basic data available in the free version simply by reading the timing and fuel temp data from fields 2 and 9 under 'basic settings'. More info here.
