hi, can anybody recommend a company in the midlands to set up geometry on the van correctly. Whacked a kerb a while ago and it is all over the place, had it tracked and the company said the camber and castor is all over the shop (not alot of faith in that company to do it well).

they were very good, I took a copy of the wheel alignment details from the brickyard information section and they put that into there computer to set the alignment.



I'll be using them again now I've changed the suspension on my van again

I thought the title said 4 wheel alignment?

Interesting to know whether they really did adjust the Caster...

FOUR as in all 4 wheels, I can only see figures for the two fronts.

How did he alter the caster?

Did camber and toe on all four and caster on front by altering radius arm length.

went to pro tyre today and they had no idea on how to adust the rear i told them about the elongated slots but they wernt having it as long as there where concerned it could not be done

so i got my read outs printed and of i went

does any one no any one in the gloucester area i can get it done?

Frustrating isnt it most of these wheel alignment centres carnt or will not adjust the rear.So it might be worth going to Mr Baxtor who can do the adjustment.

I printed the relevant pages from the Bentley manual when I went to get mine done. Guy said backs were not adjustable. Showed him the paperwork. He had another look and agreed that it was adjustable. Just a shame that the bolt was seized so that he could not complete the job!

There in lies the problem....and the reason why I asked 'how did they alter the caster' ?
Having run a 4 wheel alignment bay myself, I'm afraid I know just how easy it is to trick the machine into printing 'IN SPECIFICATION' readouts for the customers benefit.
The reality is practically ALL front radius arms will be completely seized and so not able to be adjusted. The same applies but to a lesser degree, to the rear eccentric adjusters, as in the majority of cases these will also be solid.

My point is: unless these components have recently been overhauled and freed off, they won't be adjusted...period.

Must agree with above but if you can get the person who is doing the alignment and explain how the adjustment is done on the front&back talking about camber&caster.As stated proberly seized free up before taking to a alignment centre.Did this with merit tyres Leatherhead I explained to the manager above who was very helpfull and adjusted all 4 wheels.

Also - unless the bushes have recently been replaced, in which case all the adjusters will be free, it's probably a waste of time anyway.

Gotta get round to a rebush of the front of ours. Several clonks and rattles in there.
