Solex 34 Pict 4 issue

Hi all. Been here before but now it's critical time! Solex 34 Pict 4 Carb is now worn and emissions are getting higher. It's only a matter of time.
This is on a RHD - Y Reg T25, 1.6 1983 Aircooled recon Ct engine. I can't get a replacement carb any more so apart from a possible Subaru engine swap (no idea about what is involved for other parts required) what is the alternative fix. Someone out there must have had the same issues. if I can't get it sorted my van is shot next year - it won't pass the MOT emissions test and eventually will just keep cutting out. Any ideas much appreciated as i don't want to waste a paint job this year if it won't be around. Watch this space for "Van for Sale".

A Gasure carb refurb. Check out their website which explains what they do.

Try Gower and Lee for a proper rebuild kit. It's not a complex carb - I cleaned and rebuilt mine over a couple of evenings. Refit it and then google vwresource for basic tuning so you can get it to a garage to tune it fully.

Simples and miles cheaper than a complete engine swap!

Cheers guys. i guess if my mechanic is saying it is totally worn he is talking about the jets etc as he has fitted service kits etc and fitted new needles. I guess once the jets get too big there will be too much air/mix etc and therefore render the carb totally useless. I've already had a sonic clean and had to get a another old carb for part to rebuild the one I have.

I'll try the good old USA and see what they have. Cheers again.
ps i take it no body has ever had this problem with a solex 34 pict 4 carb - honestly?

Gasure will only take it if it is attached to your van (they don't want to be ripped off by scrupulous dealers apparently) any ways, does any one know a good engineering service in Lothians Area?
Cheers
