I am looking at swapping my front seats, they are the originals in various shades of brown, very of the day but they have split in places.

Is it easy to fit any seats or are specific ones best? For example as soon as the word campervan is in the ebay search the seats double in price, but I can get a set of nice leather Audi or Alfa seats for considerably less. Are there any implications however?

Did a bit of a search around but couldnt find any specific advice on what to use.

I've got Alfa Gtv seats in mine. As they have a deep seat they sit to high if you adapt T25 runners. So I just used The Alfa runners.

thank, they look v look nice. The seats in my brera are v comfy and well made which made me ponder them.

They are pretty damn comfortable. They were 150 notes including the rears. So I've kept them for spare leather incase I tear one or need a bog box cushion.

I like those - did they require a lot of fettling as you used the Alfa runners?

Ive used Saab seats but if I changed them again id probably go abck to some merc ones that I usd to have in an old bay, will try to post pics of both. If you can weld and sort out some fabrication it is easy, even if you have rudimentary skills like me.

Cheers Waltraud. I have to be careful as to what seats will fit better as I have a kiddies bunk above the seats so ideally would need ones that are not to cumbersome and which fold forward & have removable head rests.

Merc ones, I got a pair that look quite similar to the original type seat design but they often come in sandy or black or grey leather.

I removed the standard runners. Then they're bolted through with spreader plates.

Depends how much you want to spend, But I've had Cobra's in mine and now Sparco's
I know you don't want that kind of thing, but I just cut the old runners off the tatty old seats and then bolted the new seats to them by making the old runners into a box shape, bit of weldy action with some 20mm box steel makes up a nice frame that any aftermarket seat will bolt to.

Looks like a nice bit of work there Fin - I'm pretty useless when it comes to fabricating anything, but luckily have a mate who can. I do want a swivel base as well for the drivers seat so i presume a little more fettling maybe required if I were to go for aftermarket seats.

In the meantime, apologies for hijacking the thread Matt!!

I fitted these electric Saab seats as a few others have, they are fairly straight forward.
Once you remove the original seat drill out the spot welds on the runners and remove them from the seat box
Once you have cleaned up the seat box sit the seat where you want it to sit and mark and drill
I used some drilled flat bar on the underside to spread the load onto the body.
And don't drill the fuel tank breather thingies!
