I'm rebuilding the front end of the camper ('86, RHD, non P/S) as its squeaks, rattles, knocks and shudders! One of the most pertinent jobs is to replace the perished steering rack boots, which means messing about with the tie/track rods. Now, the tie-rod end joints are pretty messed up, so I figure I may as well replace them too.

If I replace the tie-rod ends, and leave the same number of threads exposed, will my camber be sort of the same? I'll be replacing just about every bush, so it'll be all out anyway and it's been off since I lowered it too, but somewhere close?

As you say, the usual thing is count the threads before you remove, or just measure them. I've just had most of the bushes replaced on my van, soo much quieter to drive

Yup...just put a straight line of chalk across the threads and track rods, count off the turns and refit the same.
Remember that both sides should be the identical number of turns or else you will have more turns on the steering one way compaired to the other.
It's your tracking not the camber that is effected, however, it sounds as though a full geometry check & adjust is on the cards in the very near future anyway.

Thanks lads, new rod-ends it is too then! And yep, full track and balance will be needed so having new components will make that a much cheaper task!
