Evening all

my temp gauge hardly moves and when it does it moves really slowly.

when she's stood the temp gauge starts to move but only after a good 10 mins stood still. when moving the temp gauge is always showing coldish.

i have heat coming from the heater although its not really hot. what is normal?

The temp flashy light always flashes. i have checked- water level, the earths under the dash, ive shorted across the connectors on the plug for the sensor, ive even got a new sensor. no matter what ive done the light flashes.

someone please help!

Possible the temp guage/wiring is faulty with a high resistance/ bad connection but also possible it is really running cold if the thermostat is stuck open this would give you poor heating in winter. Check the temperature of the hose above the thermostat after statring from cold, if it slowly gets warm the stat is stuck open, if it stays cold for quite a while the stat is closed as it should be.

flashing light could be a broken wire or bad contact, if the reservoir was empty the sensor would have a high resistance same as an open circuit. Have you checked the multiplug on the dash is clean?

you don't have your engine type in the sig this may help.

To be sure look for the engine code+ number just below the oil breather tower , may need to clean the surface. There is somebody on here with a solex on a DG but it's not standard.

Thermostat seems to be working fine, had a look underneath and it looks like the metal water pipes under seem to be steaming a bit. Is replacing them much of a job?

Depends on which metal pipes underneath. All are quite expensive and a couple are a bit tricky to replace.
A pic would help ;)

If they are actually leaking water then they will could also be letting air in too and this can cause air locks which are not good for WBX engines. Needs sorting.

Those are available from Brickwerks, are quite expensive and quite a big job to change.

Link to them HERE

This is something I have never needed to do myself (yet  ) but someone with first hand info will be along soon.

You need to do it via PhotoBucket. Upload you pics to there (pref in 800 x 600 size) then click on the "get links" thing at the top right hand corner of the pic you want, then click on the bottom one of the options (that says "IMG codes for forums", then paste that into your thread (by doing a right click, and then select "paste" ;))

It should look like this on the page (the lettering in green that is, you won't see the box I have used to put it in).
The picture itself will show up when you "submit" the page. =

Code: Select all
