Hi there

I need the best leisure battery I can get for my vw westy but it need to fit in the battery tray and not be to high that I cart turn my seat around

I do a lot of wild camping and need it to last as long as it can

I'm sure someone on here now the best one to get

This must have been asked 1000 times. Use the search feature and you'll soon have your answer. In short, measure your battery tray carefully then look for a battery that fits. They always give the dimensions.

Yeah I now about it being ask a 1000 time I was just seeing if anyone has try anything new or better like gel or agm which I'm sure they cart be charg in the same way

Most "car batteries" are 175 width and height, so should fit under the seat (as long as they're not too long!)... the capacity really depends on what you need the battery to power?

Sorry not true.....most standard car batteries are too tall at 190mm.

It was a couple of years ago now but I measured the maximum battery box space at 310L X 175W x 180H........I'm still waiting for someone to try a low profile Type 110 as they are 315L x 175W x 175H ....you might just be in luck and be able to get the extra 5mm in there, (these are 78 - 85ah).

Battery height usually goes from 175mm to 190mm which rules out the use of the latter if you want your lid shut.

I've had a number of odd batteries in and out of my battery trays - must have been a coincidence that they've all been 175 tall, so just assumed that was the normal

I rang the batteryman (link in wiki) and they knew exactly the issue with T25s - ours has been fab ever since. They also do prompt delivery

However, I'm waiting on a reply about a 90ah leisure that is supposedly within the Wiki dimensions...that would be good be I'm not holding out too much hope as I think when the member looks more closely the width or height will be different to what they had thought.

Whether it's 70ah or 85ah ....there isn't really that much difference and neither are going to offer what I would call, significant leisure battery capacity. Personally, I would content myself with something you know fits easily into the battery tray (type 100 70ah) and then add a second battery in another location for a significant addition of reserve power. I've a 110ah Lucas Leisure in another location (so 182ah in total).

Think mine is 80+ amp

I have a Bosch HSB010 which is 74Ah and fits nicely with the lid

I know nobody likes Halfrauds... but it's a good battery, and I got it a lot cheaper with a trade card

I have done what Martin mentioned, fitted two 80ah batteries (the alpha one). One in each battery box behind the seats and linked them together. so 160ah in total. Would be nice to have more, hopefully in the near future battery sizes will come down an AH will go up.

That's a good idea if your starter battery is elsewhere
