I've just discovered that my alternator is only held on by the two straps from the stud near the distributor.
The two bolts/studs under the alternator body have sheared just below the surface of the cranckcase.
First off are they studs or bolts?

Second has anyone experience of drilling them out with the engine in situ?
Any tips?

How did you get on with removing these? Just about to tackle the same job

I've not done it yet,
I'm sure it will go bang and leave me stranded with no water pump, but been too busy with family stuff.
