Anyone got any hints?
Factory windows... ive seen this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcppIBol ... detailpage
which was helpful up to a point, but I cant get the lower bar seperated from the window... It seems to me like it might be glued, though that could just be 20 years of accumilation. I'm currently using a hammer against a block of wood to try and knock it free, but it isnt budging.
It looks to me like there may just be enough flex in the frame to lever it out with the bar still attached to the glass... but there will be some brute force involved, doesn't seem right
ideas????

If they're westy type sliding windows with the sprung latches you need to undo the tiny grub screw under the bit you slide down. This then releases the whole latch, then from outside you can wiggle it forward( towards you) and the first glass pulls out bottom first.... It's tight but it will come!!!!

indeed they are... latch is removed & seal out of the top

thanks for that... I had a feeling that more welly might be the answer... probably doesnt help that the windows are out of the van - hence Im piddling around with it in my living room at 11pm.
presumable this is easiest with the window in the "middle" eg half open...

tried it again... still struggling.. think I need some popeye spinach - or a lever of some kind

Yeh levering the glass up is not much fun...... But it's the only way and you only need a few mm or so!!

tried the frame from the other side and got the window out ok, so its not me!!!
sorted it now though...
tip if anyone else gets a frame as stubborn as mine - I used a sash clamp "back to front" as a spreader to stretch the frame open a little... glass popped out a treat.
Tinted all the glass today... just got to get it back together now!
Thanks again kingprawn for confirming the bar doesnt have to come off the bottom
