Hi, my horn is sounding a little sorry for itself, would be easier to shout out of the window, it is a double air horn type, can anyone help please.

Is it a air horn or a electric one ?

Either way its prob half ful of water and road dirt and with dirty electrical connections.....


Clean the electrical connections up and blow the dirt and water out with airline?

I found that the spade connector that connected at the base of my steering column had worked loose and was just resting against the metal steering column giving a very poor sound every time I tried the horn. Popped it back on properly and the horn now scares the low flying fighter jets that pass over my house its so loud. (I found the problem whilst rewiring my radio and had my head in the footwell tracing other wires.

Just another place for you check.

thanks, I'm here all week, will take a good look and see if i can sort it out.. cant be too hard getting the horn fired up...

Upgrading to dual tone horns with relay as per Carat is well worth doing.

Yep! I've got 3 separate horns with a horn controller i bought while in India. Plays tunes! On a separate dash button of course

Side effect being a fresh feed and ground, good volume

Its nearly always poor earthing or its demanding that much current due to age, the wiring can no longer cope. Get yourself an ooooghaa horn - it always raises a smile. Fix the horn behind top grill though - less prone to water damage I find.
